Les Distilleries Ideales is my favorite bar in Nice. It’s in the old city with prime real estate on a busy corner with delightful early evening sun.
They have a full drinks menu complete with cocktails and whiskey, but most people come here for the beer. There is a good selection of imported beers on draught and some nice local wines too.
The bar is homey and comfortable inside with a distinctly Parisian feel. There is a turquoise wrought iron balcony perched above the long, dark wood bar, small tables and old wooden chairs below.
But the best spots are the outdoor tables, wrapped around the building. On warm afternoons, these seats fill up and with a mix of locals and tourists and stay full late into the night.
The place is perfect for pre or post dinner drinks or for an afternoon tipple. The food options are limited but the cheese, charcuterie and grignotine (snack) plates are all good and prices are very reasonable.
Two glasses of house wine and a generous cheese plate will set you back around €12
