Top Travel Tip: Sakana

Today’s Tip: Sakana, DC

Sakana is a tiny Japanese restaurant in Dupont Circle.  It also happens to be my favorite restaurant in DC.

The space is small but not cramped and the sushi is good.  The best thing about this place though, is the cozy, friendly atmosphere.  It’s as close as I came to having ” a local” in the city.

There are a few tables outside for warm nights, tightly packed wooden tables inside and a bar where you can sit and watch the chefs expertly assembling the rolls.  The service is good if a bit quirky, and the place is very popular so be prepared to wait a few minutes on weekend nights.

The sushi and appetizers are better than the entrees.  Try the spicy tuna roll, and the healthy salad.

Take note: They won’t seat you until your whole party is there
