Today’s Tip: The Girl in the Flammable Skirt
There are few things I enjoy more than stretching out on a a beach towel in the sand, or on a poolside lounge chair, with a great book.
This is one of my all time favorites. I am partial to short stories – especially for travel – and Aimee Bender has such a way with words. Her stories move seamlessly from curious reality to haunting fantasy, and her characters are full of love and flaws.
Her writing is also often featured on This American Life. In this episode from 2004, she reads her story The Rememberer, in which a woman watches as her husband goes through reverse evolution, changing from a man into a salamander.
