I was excited to read that there was a rummage sale in Nice this weekend – actually the French call it a Vide Grenier, which literally means to empty the attic – but whatever you call it, any scenario where people set up tables with mounds of cool, cheap, used, stuff is a dream come true in my book.
It’s been pouring here, but the sale promised to take place rain or shine, so obviously I had to go.
I marched with determination through the rain to the parking lot where to sale was, only to realize I had managed to get there too late – just when people were packing up to leave.
Not to worry though, because as any thrift-lover worth her salt knows; the end of the day is when all the best deals are!
Today was no different. There were still a few soggy cardboard boxes and baskets to sort through and right off the bat I found a couple of pairs of gorgeous vintage French designer shoes for – brace yourself – €1 each!
My tardiness was probably a blessing in disguise for preserving the paltry contents of my bank account, and I actually found some absolute treasures which will soon be stocking the virtual shelves of the online vintage shop I just opened with a friend.
All in all, not too shabby. Here are some photos of what was left of the sale when I got there.
